Hazardous Fire Conditions!!
Effective April 11, 2023 due to the dry conditions and high wind events, Milan Fire Department announces that the Village of Milan and the Milan Fire Department is enacting the Village’s Ordinance #253 passed December 17, 2015 declaring hazardous fire conditions and imposes restrictions on open fires, smoking and other ignition sources within the interior boundaries of the Village of Milan. Due to the current dry conditions and high wind events, these fire hazards present a significant and imminent threat to the safety, health and welfare of persons and property in the Village of Milan. THE VILLAGE OF MILAN HEREBY IMPOSES FIRE RESTRICTIONS.
1. The following are hence forth prohibited within the interior and exterior boundaries of the Village of Milan:
a. Campfires;
b. Open fire;
c. Open burning of vegetation or rubbish;
d. Littering or carelessly disposing on public roadways and public areas of any ignited smoking or burning materials; and
e. Fireworks
Citizens are urged to respect the existing ordinance and do their part to help prevent fires. Any individual, firm, partnership or other entity found violating this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a petty misdemeanor and can be punished by imprisonment for up to ninety (90) days or a fine not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or both.
Regardless of the foregoing, campfires, open fires or open burning shall not include barbeque grills or such similar devices as are designated or used for outdoor cooking.
